Discussion of the approach
Discussion of data used
Background concepts
Related work
Project proposal
Describe the project, and relevant
background. Please discuss the data you will work with. This lets me assess the feasibility of your study -- afterall, you need to be able to obtain your data in a relatively short time span. Please also discuss the statistical analyses you think you will use (knowing that this is subject to change as the project progresses).
Project ideas are discussed in class prior to the
project
proposal draft due date. Students interested in working in pairs on
their projects are welcome to do so, but should discuss this with the
instructor.
Requirements:
Length: 2 pages (single column, single spaced) + 1 page for references
contains at least 4 references
The draft will be evaluated primarily on written expression, coherence
of argument, and originality of research topic. Feedback will be given
both on writing and content.
Progress report
The progress report is a revision and extension of the proposal.
It should take into account all comments given on the proposal. Expect
it to require significant rewriting, as opposed to just editing of the
proposal. In addition, it should include an update on progress to date.

contains at least 8 references
It will be graded primarily on written expression, coherence of

The
presentation schedule will be given on the schedule page. It will be
created by a random shuffle. Students are allowed to swap presentation
slots, but need to notify me in advance of the changes.

results and conclusions.
